My first hairball

If it looks like I'm a little embarrassed and hiding, it's because I am. Many of you know I am trying very hard to become a nice gentle ladycat. I'm already having trouble with it due to my clumsiness, naughtiness, and lack of manners sometimes. But now it's even worse. This morning at about 5:30, I yakked up a hairball. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't dainty. It certainly wasn't ladylike.

Mom woke up when it happened, because she felt Mattingly (who was sleeping against her) jump up and move to the end of the bed. Then she heard the yakking sounds and bolted up because she thought he might be getting sick in the bed. But then she saw me on the floor at the foot of the bed being really gross. I was so embarrassed that both Mom and Mattingly saw. Mom said "Oh you poor thing. I was wondering when you would get one of these. You ok? Is it all up now?" But her nice words didn't ease my shame. When it was over I ran away and tried to hide in the kitchen.

Mom cleaned it up and said she was glad for once that the bedroom was messy because I threw up on some dirty clothes that needed to be cleaned anyway (she really didn't want to scrub the carpet at 5:30am). Then she praised me again for keeping it all on one shirt. Well, honestly, I wasn't trying for anything like that. I just didn't feel good and then there it was. I wouldn't let Mom pet me or anything, so she went back to bed. But then I went into bed with her later and purred for her so she wouldn't worry. And that made her happy. I'm just trying to keep a low profile for the rest of the day. Mom would like me to add, for all the lady beans out there, that Dad slept through everything. And she thinks that's typical. Whatever. I'm going back to my hidey spot.

Don't worry, Harlie. WE all get the nasties from time to time. It is part of being a cat, nothing to be shamed of.

Oh, you are a poor cat, but don´t be worry. I´ve done it too (under the couch). This is catslike. My mom get me to eat Anti-Hairball-food and there is sometimes Catsgrass growing in a pot for this.

Oh, Harlie! Do not be embarrassed. Even lady cats get hairballs sometimes. You were very proper to keep it on the one dirty shirt!

Oh, don't worry dear Harlie, I know you think it isn't ladylike, but it is just the way it is! See even the dainty Daisy says so and it doesn't get more lady like than that. I'm a Big Man Cat and I can tell you, it is OK for the most lady like girl kitties to have hairballs. It happens to the best of us. Your mommy sounds very nice to take such good care of you.
Happy Valentine's Day.
PS Mommy says it wasn't so much that your daddy was sleeping through it, it was that he was "sleeping" through it, whatever that means. Sounds the same to me!

You poor dear! I'm the only cat here who get hairballs, though since I've been eating lots of Temptations Hairball Remedy, I don't much anymore. The last time I did, I tipped one of our cat beds upsidedown over it so no one would step in it. I'm very considerate like that.

Oh, Harley, don't take it so hard. It says nothing about your femininity. At least you got it out and you're okay. Mom always thinks we sound like we're dying when we hack up a hairball.

Don't be embarrassed by a hairball. If you weren't being so good about cleaning, and I'm sure cleaning Mattingly too, then you wouldn't get a hairball. It's just a byproduct of caring about your appearance.

Don't worry about it so much, Harlie. I know it's distressing and doesn't seem very ladylike, but it happens to all cats sometime or other. You were very good to do it on a dirty shirt.

yuk, sorry to hear you yakked up a hairball, but better out than in, you know.

Marble is always yakking up something, it's pretty much a daily occurrence when he visits. Me, not so much...I got a stomach of steel..., or so the lady peep says.

Nice talking to you.
