Getting better every day!

So Mom and Dad are happy because the little one and I actually calmed down today. We even took a nap in the same room! We didn't sleep together, but it was the first time we weren't running around like crazy and wrestling. It even gave Dad a chance to fall asleep. I get told "NO" when I'm playing too hard, and then I back off. I don't mind though because I don't want to hurt her... so I'm glad for the reminder to be gentle.

Tonight was nail night. I didn't see the clippers come in the room, so I didn't get a chance to warn "her" about what it was like and to tell her not to worry. It was "her" first nail clipping here though, and she didn't like it at all. I didn't know what was going on and I got upset because she was mewing and crying. It made me run around the room meowing. Then I swatted at Mom's arm to tell her to stop making my little sister cry. But then I saw that Mom and Dad were just clipping her nails and that it wasn't a bad thing at all! So I made my cooing noises and touched noses with her and even licked her a little to tell her everything was ok. She didn't believe me though and still put up a big fuss. I was glad when it was over for her. I was a good boy as always for my nail clipping. I don't particularly enjoy it, but it's going to happen whether I want it to or not, and it goes easier if I don't struggle. That's William's Philosophy too. Plus I always get TWO treats afterward. I hope she learns it's not a bad thing soon!

You are such a good big brofur! I don't mind the nail clipping, 'acause I gets a kissy for efurry nail I let Mommy clip wifout getting upset. I now get 18 kissies 'acause I let her clip them all wifout a fuss. Miles does not like having his nails clipped at all, and last time he only gotted 2 kissies.

Maybe you can train her to relax, but I don't know. Girls put up the biggest fusses. Anyway, you seem to already know how to run to her defense in case of trouble, real or exaggerated!

Hey Mattingly, Your new sisfur is really cute. I'm glad yall are gettin along.

I saw on Eric's blog that your Mom can't find you an octoput. My Mom says we'll pick one up for you if your Mom wants us to. Email me if your Mom says it's ok and we'll make our Mom got to the store and get it for you. Um, does your sisfur need one too?

You are a good big brother Mattingly. Sisters can be nice. I am sure you will end up as the best of friends.

While I'm not a fan of the mani/pedi events, I endure it nicely. I suppose it's because I am used to it, since it's been happening every 10 days or so since I was a kitten.

Rumor has it that when my mom first got me, she wanted to declaw me (she didn't know, she had never had a cat before). The vet told her it was like amputating a human's fingers at the first knuckle!

Knowing the alternative, I'm glad I get mani/pedis!

WHEN WILL THE NEWBIE HAVE AN OFFICIAL NAME? The tabloids have been asking me...

You are a wonderful big brother for setting a good example at claw trimming time. She'll learn a lot from you!

My front claws are gone. Mama didn't have a choice, there. That's how I came. But I do have my back ones, and she lets those alone unless I have a bad nail split or something. She says I need something for defense if I ever get outside.

Once in a while I scratch her when I take off from her lap or something. But I try to be careful.

You are a good brother coming to your new little sister's aid!!

Wish you were mine.

And that's a lot from me, cause I like being an only.

I have all my claws,(even extra ones because I am polydactyl - more fingers than most cats.) Once when I was littler, my lady peep took me to the VET and he put some "soft claws" on me. I was so embarrased and so glad I didn't go outside. Do you know what they are? They're like fake cat fingernails. I am not a GIRL cat and these were bright blue and stuck on over my own claws. The first thing I did when I got home was chew them off. The man peep said $25.00 down the drain, whatever that means. I looked in the drain and the only thing in there was the black hole. The man peep said "Good for you Eddy, I don't blame you, boys don't wear fake fingernails". The reason I got them was because when I was really little my claws were reaaally, reaaally sharp and I dug one into the lady peep's upper lip accidently and made her bleed. She got afraid that I was playing too rough and when she wasn't home, I would scratch up the NEW LEATHER TV WATCHING CHAIRS.

It sounds like you took good care of your new sister. If my momma decides she wants to trim my claws, will you come sit next to me and hold my paw so I won't be afraid?

You is being such a good brofur to your new sissyfur. Since she's a little kitty she should get used to the clippers. I got all worried about Beau Beau acoz he was crying when Mommy tried to put a harness on him. He flipped all over the place! It would a been good if you could a been there to make him feel better too.

What a good brofur you are! Mom waits until I'm sleepy dozy to clip my claws. Ofurwise, I wiggle too much. Bonnie doesn't seem to haf front claws an I don't fink anyone would want to try trimming them if she did.
