Way to go Dad!

Yesterday Dad stayed home from work because he was feeling sick. I enjoy having someone stay home all day. It means lots of extra love for me. I now especially like it when Dad stays home. I got several treats throughout the day and we played a lot. Then, Mom came home late, so Dad fed me while we were waiting. Well he didn't realize that since Mom switched to buying the larger cans of food, I only get half a can for dinner... and he gave me a whole can!! Oh I was so happy. I ate and ate and ate. I still asked Mom for some food when she came home, but she didn't go for it. Oh well. I hope Dad stays home more often. Mom worked from home today, but she isn't as liberal with the treats, and she knows how much to feed me. I did a lot of begging today, but she's wise to me. I told her I'm a growing boy and need more food and she told me to grow into my big round belly first! I didn't think that was nice, but maybe she has a point. These pictures posted here today are from a few weeks ago, so you can't see my new belly so good. I have to get Mom to upload the more recent ones. But she was real busy helping me to update the blog today and get my links more in order, so I'll wait a few more days if I have to. We made some minor changes, but we're still not totally happy with it. Mom says we'll get there though.

I would like to ask you all a question about catnip now, and how you react to it. I have active "freak outs" (as my parents like to call them) on a daily basis already. The other day I was given some catnip to play with for a bit, but it didn't seem to make me nuts too much. I did act weird about half an hour later though as Mom and Dad caught me sitting in the middle of the floor just staring into space. And this morning after some catnip I was licking the couch. I'm just wondering how all of you react. I'm worried I'm not normal.

Hi Mattingly!
I heard that young cats don't react to catnip until they are older. It has no effect on Scout at all-he's 5 months) Scooby doesn't go much for it either, but Shaggy loves his catnip toys. Throws them around & pounces, chews & licks them. But if they get stale he ignores them. I always buy ones that are refillable. I also read somewhere that only 70-80% of cats react to catnip. SS&S's mom :)

Not all cats will get the full benefit of da kitty crack...I didn't until I was almost a year old and then sometimes I'd go nutsoid and other times I'd just get real mellow and plop down on the floor to look at all the pretty colors.

Buddah doesn't seem to have as much fun with it yet, either. he likes it and his favorite chew things are catnip, but he's only about six and a half months old. The Woman says if he never reacts to it that's fine with her because he's a big enough crackhead without it. Um, yeah. It was the Woman who said that...

Simba wanted me to let you know that you sound like a fun kitty. (he hasn't figured out the typing thing yet). He loves catnip. I put it in a little pile and then he sneezes and blows it around and then eats it. Then he runs around a bit and meows alot; but he does that anyway.

We forgot to mention mom planted catnip seeds in pot and grew it for us over the summer. Now it's inside so the frost won't kill it. We don't pay attention to it till the leaves die & dry out, then it's heavenly. Or mom will dry some out & crush them for us. Yeah, we're spoiled!

I always like to put the bite on Momma. She says that I'm allowed to have nip but I'm not allowed to play with her unless she's wearing long sleeves LOL! Nip usually makes me wild crazy cat for about 2 minutes and then I fall alseep somewhere for a looooong time!

Our humans planted us a whole patch of catnip in our backyard. We get to chew on it and roll in it whenever we are outside. (Under strict supervision of course, due to the AWOL incidient this summer.) We get a lot of visitors from the nieghborhood because of it. Dad says its like we're the local grow-op for all the cats in the neighborhood.
